Services Provided

At Mountain View Dentistry for Children we provide both traditional dental services (sealants, fillings, root canals and crowns) AND more preventative services such as targeted use of silver diamine fluoride and guided enamel regeneration.

Dental Sealants

A dental sealant is a coating applied to the surface of a molar tooth to help prevent the development of tooth decay.  A sealant works by preventing food and plaque from resting in the grooves and crevices of molar teeth.

Silver Diamine Fluoride Treatment to Arrest Tooth Decay

Smaller tooth decay may be eligible for an alternative treatment that uses Silver Diamine Fluoride.  The FDA cleared this material in August 2014, and "SDF" became commercially available to dental professionals in 2015.  Compared to a traditional filling that requires shots of local anesthetic and drilling of tooth structure, this treatment is non-invasive and more comfortable for the patient.

SDF is a liquid that is simply brushed on to a cavity and it can stop current decay and prevent new decay in the future.
